Why was the name Eid-ul-Fitr:-

The festival was named Eid-ul-Fitr because all Muslims perform Fitrah before the Namaz on Eid. They also take out zakat. Fitra means to give the amount of money in the form of money to the poor and fakirs in the morning. It is said that Eid prayers are not celebrated without charity or zakat.

The special connection between eid and moon:-

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the tenth month of Hijri calendar (Hijri Samvat) on the first date of Shawwal i.e. Shawwal ul-Mukarram. Now it is also understood that the beginning of the Hijri calendar is considered to be a famous historical event of Islam. That incident is that of Hazrat Muhammad from Mecca city towards Medina when Hazrat Muhammad left Mecca and traveled to Medina.

Hijri calendar is a calendar based on the moon. Every month in this calendar, it is considered to start by seeing the new moon. On the same lines, the month of Shawwal also starts by looking at the 'new moon'. And according to the Hijri calendar, the month after Ramadan is Shawwal. In such a situation, the month of Ramadan is not considered complete until the first moon of Shawwal is seen.

When the moon is not seen by Shawwal, it is believed that the month of Ramadan is lacking in completion. For this reason, Eid is celebrated the next day or whenever the moon is seen.
